Goodness
Knowledge, Happiness and Clarity

In the mode of goodness, consciousness is clear and illuminated, allowing an individual to perceive things as they are, free from the distortions caused by material desires. When one operates predominantly in this mode, there is a deep sense of inner peace, fearlessness, and detachment from the material world. This detachment is not apathy or insensitivity, but rather an understanding of the temporary nature of the physical body and mind, which leads to freedom from fear and anxiety. A person in goodness experiences mastery over their mind and senses. This control manifests as an ability to remain steady and focused, resisting the pull of material temptations and disturbances. The senses, which usually seek gratification from the external world, become disciplined, allowing the individual to act with restraint and wisdom. Qualities like tolerance, patience, and mental clarity naturally emerge in them. One becomes capable of enduring difficult situations without agitation, as the mind remains unaffected by external turbulence. The ability to tolerate is born from inner strength and the understanding that material conditions, whether pleasurable or painful, are temporary. A person prominently in goodness is free from the distractions and agitations of the lower modes (passion and ignorance), leading to a sense of peace and harmony.
