Perspectives on Religion: Views from Different Modes.
In the Mode of Ignorance: People view religion through a lens of grievance and retaliation. They might think, "I have been wronged by those from a different group, so not only will I seek revenge, but my deity will also punish them." For these individuals, their conception of God aligns with their personal biases and vendettas, seeing God as an ally in their conflicts.
In the Mode of Passion: Religion is seen as a means to gain power and influence. Such individuals use religious affiliations to enhance their political or social status and to expand their own influence. Their focus is on leveraging religion for personal gain and control.
In the Mode of Goodness: Religion is perceived as a pathway to a more fulfilling and peaceful life. People in this mode see religious practices as tools for personal growth, harmony, and well-being. They view religion as a way to enhance their life’s meaning and tranquility.
In Pure Goodness: Religion is embraced as a profound connection with and devotion to God. It is seen as a way to fully dedicate oneself to divine love and service. For those in pure goodness, religion transcends mere practice and becomes a deep, heartfelt relationship with the divine.
